2015
It was the year the Supremes ruled in favor of same-sex marriage. The year the People’s Pontiff visited the U.S. The year NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft reached Pluto after 9.5 years, HarperCollins published Harper Lee’s sequel to To Kill a Mockingbird under suspicious circumstances, and David Letterman broke up with his razor.
These are just a few of the numbers that made my 2015 stand out:
13,000 – Gallons of water in Clear Lounge Cozumel, where I experienced the world’s first underwater oxygen bar
8699 – People who joined me to see Jane Goodall at Coors Events Center
7212 – Words I wrote in this blog since my first post in August
6650 – Dollars raised via Indiegogo to bring author William Kamkwamba (The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind) to Casey Middle School
583 – Natural foods sampled in my role as product tester for Prevention Magazine’s Cleanest Packaged Food Awards 2016
50 – Years my parents have been married, celebrated at the Jersey Shore in June
27 – Inspiring and generous people I “interviewed” during my career vision quest
8 – Neutral grip pull-ups I can do after 6 months of training (and a few gnarly callouses on my palms)
0 – Seconds I’ve spent regretting my decision to step away from the classroom
Find your voice. Clear your throat. Speak only words of kindness, light, and understanding. Happy 2016.
congratulations on a wonderful 2015 and best wishes for a spectatcular 2016! xo
